Directions:: On the campus of Wheaton College, in the Edwin F. Deicke Exhibit Hall, which is in Armerding Hall, which is on the south side of Kenilworth Ave. Roughly four blocks east of Main St. and two blocks south of Harrison Ave. Indoor viewing hours are M-F 9-9. Otherwise the Mastodon can viewed from an outside patio between Armerding Hall and Breyer Laboratory.

Perry Mastadon Exhibit

The Perry Mastadon Exhibit at Wheaton College is a reconstruction of an American Mastodon discovered locally in 1963. Half of it is the skeleton and half is a reconstruction of what it would have looked like when it lived during the ice age. It's viewable from both indoors and outdoors at Breyer Hall. It revolves on a platform, and there is an audio track, as well as an historical multimedia program if you're inside the building. If you're there after hours, there's an audio track you can listen to as you watch the mastadon revolve. Sometimes it's unplugged and you can't listen or watch it revolve, but it's still pretty cool to see. [Jean, 09/02/2003]
