Lemon Capital of the World

The museum also has a large orange with a crown on top of it. It's out in the gravel area on the side facing the street, with all the farm equipment. They have used it in the past for city events, but not in a long time. I live down the street from it and see it almost every day. I think it used to be a Unocal 76 ball in its former life.

Lemon Capital of the World

Corona Heritage Park & Museum - 10,000 sq. ft. museum celebrates town's past history as the "Lemon Capital of the World" during the 1930-40's. Small gift shop features "everything lemon." Built at the center of the former 2,000 acre Corona Lemon Company established in 1911, it's believed to have been the largest single lemon ranch in California. The park utilizes 11 historic buildings / houses / packing sheds as somewhat of an artist's colony. Artists-in-residence include a sculptor, painter, muralist, life drawer, glass blower, weaver and a woodworker. You can watch them work or take classes. Saturdays are the best day to see them all. An operating beneficial bug farm is also on site as well as a quaint farmer's market. The park is only five-acres in all but has many mature native and exotic old-growth trees. Not enough for an all-day visit but a nice place to stop for an hour or two.
