All of the buildings are gone, and the area is fenced off with barbed wire, but it is fairly easy to climb through. Stay on the paving and go beyond the concrete rubble to get the best views, but be very careful of rattlesnakes. Remember, do not walk through the grass, and stay on the pavement.
[Frank P, 06/28/2010]The restaurant is still there and boarded, the parking lot is big enough to park but the attraction and picnic area are fenced off. You can see where the local kids or someone has been climbing through the fence "a lot." Can't figure out why this closed, it is a great place!
[Ronda D., 08/24/2009]We were going to Buffalo, Wy from Jackson Hole, on highway 20 and saw Hell's Half Acre on the side of the road. We were very impressed with the formation. Wind was making a "screal" sound all the time we were there. Almost sounds like people screaming. Really worthwhile visiting even though there is only one boarded-up building left.
[Larry and Elaine Beaver, 08/24/2009]Hell's Half Acre
The restaurant/store is still there and boarded. There is a well-marked parking area just west of the restaurant with an interpretive sign by the state of Wyoming. It's easy to get to the edge of Hell's Acre from that lot.
[Steve D., 07/12/2008]We stopped at Hell's Half Acre on August 9, 2006. The motel building was completely gone. The restaurant building is still standing but all boarded up. The parking lot is still partially blocked but there is parking and we weren't the only ones stopped there to take pictures.
