The Muffler Auto Parts Mutant is no longer standing. He may have been removed as part of the Route 1 Revitalization program currently taking place (most of Triangle's buildings just to the south have been demolished). [Paul Fucito, 05/15/2009]

Was traveling through the town of Dumfries, VA earlier today, and across from where one of the ubiquitous "Iwo Jima" statues stands in front of what appeared to be the Marine Corps Academy (near Quantico?), there was a mutated auto parts "Muffler Man." It stood in front of a small auto service station, white and about four feet tall, and it looked to have been comprised entirely of actual mufflers. I only got to see it quickly in passing, as we were lost to begin with and unable to make a U-turn. [Diana Le Defonceur, 06/21/2003]
