Mermaid Statue in the Concho River Beautiful statue of mermaid curled up on rock on the side of the murky Concho River that flows downtown in San Angelo, TX. Really a beautiful statue in such an unexpected place -- far West Texas, an area more noted for its cactus, rocks, and desert (except along the river lined with pecan trees). [Betty, 07/06/2003]
