Tampa, Florida - Jose Gaspar Pirate Ship

This fully rigged, black-hulled pirate ship is over 160 feet long with three masts that tower 100 feet above the deck. Modern day buccaneers use the ship to invade the city of Tampa each year by sailing into the Bay. The Gasparilla Pirate Fest started in May of 1904. It now takes place annually in February and has grown to include a large number of events. [L. Gude, 07/20/2003]
