Where Elvis Spent His Honeymoon

The humble cottage where Elvis and Priscilla spent their honeymoon will be upgraded into an attraction worthy of The King, according to its new owners.

Local TV station WTVA reports that the abandoned cottage, which now stands near a busy intersection, will be moved further back into the Circle G Ranch property. The cottage interior will be restored to its 1967 honeymoon appearance, and the adjacent Elvis barbecue pit "will be moved brick-by-brick." Also, a 55-foot-tall cross on the property will be painted and patched, there will be "a water, light, and music show for 500 people," and the entire ranch will be added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The owners say that "Phase One" will be complete by Summer 2015 -- but the property has a long history of investors who have tried, and failed, to improve it, with proposals ranging from an Elvis Eternal Flame to a statue of Elvis dressed like a cowboy.

There is a ranch in Walls, MS, that used to be owned by Elvis...has a cottage on it where he and Priscilla lived and it is said that she lost her wedding ring there while horse back riding. It's at highway 301 and Goodman Rd.

The Circle G Ranch is where Elvis and Priscilla spent their honeymoon. The cottage (now abandoned) is reportedly the one that's right on the southeast corner of Goodman Rd and Hwy 301, although it seems too close to traffic to provide much of a romantic retreat.
