Clinton, MT's 16th Annual Testicle Festival was attended by over 15,000 people this year, according to a story in the Missoulian last week. Over 5,000 pounds of Rocky Mountain Oysters were consumed by sometimes intoxicated attendees in various states of undress.... [10/01/2000] Complete News Story
At the festival, people of all ages gather to party and consume "Rocky Mountain Oysters" (bull testicles beer-battered and deep fried). Don't pass judgment either - it sounds as weird to most Montanans (myself included) as it probably sounds to the rest of you. Being a strict vegetarian, I have never actually tried one of these "tasty" treats, but I hear they taste like chicken (if you can believe that).
Regardless, the festival is a lot of fun & I highly recommend it to those who can stomach it! Oh, and I recently heard that there is also now a "Pussy Festival" held sometime in the Spring; apparently they serve bobcat or mountain lion meat. [Erin, 02/02/2000]
