Rock 'n' Roll Tribute House

[Another view of the eclectic Rock 'n Roll themed house by Richard Margolin, which will be leveled this month to make way for development.]

Rock 'n' Roll Tribute House

Though already listed on RoadsideAmerica.com, this oddball artistically decorated structure is slated for demolition in May of this year (2007).

The artist, Richard Margolin, is looking to sell off as much of the artwork as possible before its demolition. The property owner is going to be putting up a large development on the site.

If you want to see it, better hurry!

Rock 'n' Roll Tribute House

House entirely decorated with found objects and especially rock 'n' roll/rhythm and blues memorabilia. The work of an eccentric artist named Richard Margolin, a tree trimmer by trade but harboring a deep love for his favorite music and its history, that he has taken it upon himself to build a monument to its legacy. The house has garish displays of various musical legends from Fats Domino, Ike Turner and Little Richard to Eric Clapton, The Beach Boys and Jimi Hendrix. CD's glistening in the sun are everywhere. There a "kick wheel" (a small windmill with dead stars' photos that twirls with the breeze). The backyard is a colorful display (purple seems to be a major influence on Margolin) with the Temptations mounted on the back of the house and a converted basketball hoop set with Tim Leary gracing it. The surrounding gate and fence has hundreds of holes drilled into it where marbles have been inserted for setting sun light shows. His latest addition involves placing colorful umbrellas on top of the fence (which on the inside is entirely swathed in memorabilia and wild paint) on the western side of the yard. He claims to have spent over $50,000 on materials from his own pocket on this project and doesn't make a dime. Just doing what he loves to do.
