Belhaven Memorial Museum
The collection of Mrs. Eva Blount Way, a seriously eccentric woman who simply couldn't throw anything away. Junk, freaks in jars, and fleas in formal dress.

Darn the luck. They are still closed. Maybe because of COVID.

Cool place, creepy and weird, but cool.
[Jenn, 03/10/2020]The Belhaven Memorial Museum is definitely a cool place to check out. It doesn't cost anything -- they just have a donation box up front. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere - but if you're visiting Bath or Washington it's not that far up the road. If you're into history, creepy stuff, or both, you ought to go. It's weird to think this stuff -- a double-headed pig, a human skeleton, a whale skull, etc. -- was in an old woman's house. It's not just babies in jars though; there are a lot of old artifacts that show how people lived back in the day.
The guy working there was very knowledgeable and I learned some stuff from him.
[Phil, 05/24/2011]My friend and I took a small road trip to Belhaven to visit the museum. It was well worth it. At first it looked like just an antique store (room full of old stuff) but then we went through and looked at everything.
The man who worked there walked through with us and told us stories about all the different items. My favorite was about the mutant cat that roamed around intimidating dogs and such. There was a jar with the claws in it. The whole museum was filled with crazy things like that. It was soooooo much fun!
You should go visit... really, that man gets lonely.
