Cherokee, North Carolina - Snakes Alive The "somewhat sullen old guy" who was mentioned in the earlier post was probably my friend Harry. After Harry died, his wife moved away and Harry's exhibit closed. Snakes Alive is no more. [JW, 06/28/2008]
Cherokee, North Carolina - Snakes Alive Snakes Alive was repaired after the fire as I visited it about three or four years ago, but when I visited recently it was closed down and replaced with a "Cobra Arcade." Cherokee, North Carolina - Snakes Alive "It's about 50 feet from the World's Most Photographed Indian; the row of shops there was all burnt down, stopping about a foot short of Snakes Alive. I paid the somewhat sullen old guy my dollar and went inside to a room full of snakes, and graphic photos of poorly-treated bites on all available wall-space (with info written like the guy has a Holy Mission to protect humanity from acting stupid after a poisonous snake bites 'em).
