Directions:
Isabell Street, just north of South Golden Road, just west of Interstate 70.
Hours:
2019: no candle, no lighthouse
Status:
Gone

Giant Lighthouse Candle - Not

Not a candle anymore.

[Rachael, 05/09/2019]

Candle lighthouse.

Giant Lighthouse Candle

As I was taking a picture of this "candle," the owner looked at me suspiciously and asked what I was doing. I explained I was shooting it for a website. I asked what was it before it was a candle, he told me it was a lighthouse -- but another storage company, Sure Guard Storage, sued him saying he was infringing on their copyright on the lighthouse theme.

After he spent $17,000 converting it to a giant candle, Sure Guard Storage sold out to Public Storage and PS couldn't have cared less about the lighthouse theme. If he had only waited.

We admire this kind of creativity-by-litigation -- very mutant. He should laminate the cease-and-desist letter onto the inside wall for visitor appreciation.

Giant Candle (formerly a lighthouse)

Right beside Interstate 70 to the west as you're heading towards the mountains, or just east of Camp George West north of South Golden Road in Pleasant View, stands a building shaped like a very large candle. It advertises Candlelight Storage and just peeks over the elevated deck of the Interstate. When it was built in 2002 it was originally a lighthouse. This candle is several stories tall and comes complete with its own orangy-red, and rather stationary, flame on top.
