Haverford, Pennsylvania: Haverford College Black Squirrels

Haverford College never really had a mascot, per se. We were known as the "Fords" for much of our existence. In the past 20 years or so, a growing population of black squirrels on campus has earned the school the unofficial nickname of the Haverford College Black Squirrels. These creatures are not to be found anywhere nearby -- a small step off campus and their population is non-existent. On campus, however, they have developed a strong community and even engage the slightly larger population of grey squirrels in battle sometimes.
