Drive west on US 40/Colfax Ave. for two blocks, turn right onto McIntyre St., drive north three blocks until it ends, then turn left and drive west three blocks on Golden Rd. The sign post will be on the left, just past the intersection of Golden and Mt. Vernon Rds.

Rock Rest, our large local restaurant/bar, has put out in front a huge direction pole with arrow signs pointing to places all over the earth. It's rather fitting, since Rock Rest stands at an old gold rush crossroads. Rock Rest itself is a peculiar yet oddly picturesque complex, complete with a cobblestone-walled quonset hut, stone arch gateway to the parking lot, cannon and dining deck. Once it still had the prostitute's cribs from when it served as the unofficial officers' club for nearby Camp George West but those were torn out for interior expansion. The great wooden pole may be 50 feet high, with arrows pointing every which direction from top to bottom. If you ever get lost, this is the place to be!
