The curator passed away and the neighbor said he thinks the contents have been moved to New Hampshire. The building has been converted and is now a church.
[Dwight, 09/12/2020]A friend and I went to check out this museum and were amazed at the size and depth of the collection. Every type of aviation toy, from early planes to space age shuttles, old to new. The Christmas tree was covered with aviation ornaments, and models of hot air balloons and planes hang from the ceilings. Housed in an enormous old schoolhouse (1885) with a clock tower, the rooms are so large you can fly paper airplanes and balsa gliders, which is encouraged. The owners, one of whom is a pilot, are so friendly and entertaining they bring the place alive with scavenger hunts and special event shows. We went to a talk on the Boeing Aircraft Factory. Kids will love this place, very interactive. Adults will find it fascinating. The museum gift shop has great prices, very affordable.
Winchendon is known as "Toy Town" since they had the first toy factory. There's also a large rocking horse statue in town outdoors in a park.
