The interstate exit number for the sign has been changed from 50 to 47. Easy to get to on and off the highway.

Welcome sign says: "Home of 200 happy people and a few soreheads." It is my understanding that they heard from the soreheads when they erected the sign. I know the slogan has been around for years, but I don't know the history.
