The headstone for Pookie is no longer there. I visited and spoke to the nice people who live there. Two years ago the pet cemetery land was divided and sold. The owner of the land took some of the gravestones. A lady from Newport came and took many of the gravestones, and an ad was placed in the newspaper for anyone to come and take the rest. A few of the gravestones are still there (but not visible). The owners of the house were nice enough to bring a garden rake out and tell us about it. They lay the remaining gravestones flat and covered them with mulch to blend into their yard landscaping; all the dogs are still buried under their front lawn. They said that the woman who took most of the gravestones lives in Newport near Anandale Street and was going to use them to make a "cobblestone" pathway in front of her house. The headstone for Pookie might be there.
[EB Savage, 01/31/2018]I am pretty sure the graves are not at this location. The house is torn down and I think the graves were relocated, or at least the markers were.

Pookie's grave is next to the stone wall; the British flag is no longer there.
[Donna Capozzi, 01/05/2009]Pookie, the dog of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor ( King Edward VIII of England and Wallis Simpson) is buried just outside of Newport, Rhode Island, in front of a kennel formerly known as Bow Wow Villa. The grave had a little British Flag in front of it when we visited. The grave is next to the stone wall against the road.
