- I-10 exit 22. Drive south through Lordsburg on Main St. for about 1.5 miles, then bear right at the small "Shakespeare Ghost Town" sign onto a dirt road for one mile. Call ahead to arrange a tour. Only open on certain weekends, otherwise gated. Take water; no refreshments or restrooms on premises.

Shakespeare Ghost Town Shakespeare Ghost Town is an authentic ghost town in Southern New Mexico on Interstate 10. It's owned by a family that has managed the town for generations, and most of the buildings and attractions are still intact. Plus, it's reputedly haunted. Billy the Kid, as a matter of fact, use to wash dishes in the hotel at Shakespeare, and Russian Bill and Sandy King were both hanged there.
