Glasgow, Virginia - The Town That Time Forgot

I drove through Glasgow, Virginia in mid-October to see if the rumors were true, and dinosaurs do indeed still roam the streets of small towns in western Virginia. As of that month, Mark Cline could still claim dominion over evolution, as I met this charming cave woman atop a brontosaurus on the main road through town. If memory serves, there was also a smaller stegosaurus standing guard by a local gas station, but it looks like the city's police force has done an otherwise adequate job of keeping prehistoric monsters out of Glasgow's business district. We visited Glasgow, "The Town That Time Forgot," and found the dinosaur population to be down somewhat, but still very much in evidence. The Triceratops that was guarding the Mom & Pop Restaurant apparently hopped across the road and now stands guard for the Grocery Express. Only a few little bears are in front of the restaurant, which does serve good, reasonably priced food. [John Holmes, 01/30/2005]
