Stone Mountain
My Canadian friends love Stone Mountain, so we walked around last Sunday. They're adding lots of fancy new rides and some giant water slide, possibly?
[Bam-Bam, 03/17/2011]World's largest exposed mass of granite, located about 15 miles east of Atlanta Georgia off of Hwy 78 (Stone Mountain Freeway). Also the site of the world's largest bas-relief carving, depicting southern Civil War Heroes Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis. The park used to be totally a civil war monument, but in recent years has tried to shed this image. Also the site of a laser show in summer evenings, which is a favorite among local rednecks. The laser show is projected directly on the side of the mountain. The park also includes a lift to the top of the mountain, a museum about the carving, an antique car museum, an actual antebellum plantation house, and other attractions.
