Route 66 Shoe Tree Very cool but it's about a mile further down Route 66. Look for the trading post sign. We had a great time throwing shoes on it.

Route 66 Shoe Tree Trading Post Just west of Depew and east of Stroud is the mysterious Shoe Tree. Located along the old and new alignment of Route 66, visitors are greeted by a hodgepodge of shoes, gracefully hanging in a few trees. Visitors can add their own shoes if they wish and help perpetuate this curious landmark.
[Stacey Kirk, 03/07/2012]I was driving down Route 66 today, in between Stroud and Bristow, OK, and the Shoe Tree has fallen down. It is still laying where it fell. Was sad to see it had fallen over, because a week before today I was going to take a picture and didn't. I went back to show my cousin and it was laying on the ground.

Shoe Tree The Route 66 Shoe tree was awesome. I've never seen a shoe tree before, so when we were driving by I had to slam on my brakes and turn around. I thought it was so neat!
[April Kustanborter, 09/24/2010]Would prefer to call this a "shoe exchange"... a little further out of town than we would have thought. Nevertheless, clearly visible. There is a store/trading post on the hill next to this attraction.
This shoe exchange seemed to be a surefire way to attract customers; however, we were not brave enough to enter.
