World's Largest Daniel Boone

There is a Muffler Man-type figure of Daniel Boone situated next to I-5. Just before exit 105, southbound. Look to the right as you round the corner and there he is standing with his rifle butt planted in the ground. I don't know much about him except he's on the grounds on Boone Ford, a local car dealership and has been there since I moved to Olympia in 1988. He's usually surrounded by and dwarfing several models of Ford trucks, so that one can get an idea of his relative size. I've never seen him vandalized and hope an Olympia area old-timer can fill me in on some details. [John Flack, 05/10/2000]
