Last week, the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH broke ground on a third major gallery, some 190,000 square feet in size. The structure is expected to be finished in 2003, and will coincide with events the museum and the Dayton area have planned to celebrate the centennial anniversary of powered flight.
... [06/10/2001] Complete News StoryThe Air Force Museum in Dayton now has a third wing that brings things up to Desert Storm. They are also in the process of modernizing the older displays by dressing them up a bit. That is, one plane is supposed to be in the arctic and they put artificial snow beneath it and antifreeze cans by the wheels, etc. A more interesting picture for your site might be the suit of armor, named "Iron Mike," that stands off by himself in a corner. He was a mascot that was carried off to far corners of the Earth in an unending series of pranks.
