Not known, Other - Stone Memorial Marker, Fire Disaster

I have a cassette a friend made from some vintage Country and Western records in his collection. One ballad is about a tragic, country school fire that seems to have happened near Christmas time. Perhaps the time was in the 19th century, in one of the small farming villages of the period. The children were on stage singing carols, when a keroscene lamp fell, broke and ignited the stage drapes. The fire quickly engulfed the entire school. Some escaped and were outside the raging fire hearing the children's dying screams. I recall seeing a picture of the simple stone marker of the event. It seems to have been located at the edge of a field or park, perhaps. Any help, or information will be appreciated. [Robert S. Hodge, 02/05/2005]
