Broomfield, Colorado - Grave of the Toll Road Dog As previously reported, Shep's grave was recently moved to the Broomfield Depot Museum grounds due to progress and construction on the interchange. All the gravestones, ironwork, gravel, and flags were replaced next to the old depot exactly as they were on Interstate 36. After watching a TV report on this story, I believe the mystery person who decorated and cared for Shep's grave all these years is the very same lady who spearheaded his re-interment. McKittrick, California - Penny Bar The Penny Bar is in the historic McKittrick hotel. It's not much to look at from the outside, but once inside you will be dazzled by floor-to-ceiling pennies and the quirky decor. Over one million pennies are glued to everything -- the floor, the walls, the pool table, the TV, and more. It's a really fun little place to sing karaoke, play pool, drink some beers and eat amazing rib-eye steaks. If you are lucky enough to meet the owners Annie and Mike (who are often there working) then you will encounter two of the most genuinely friendly, and fun people the west coast has to offer.
If you call ahead, for birthdays or special occasions, Annie will make you one of her "naughty" cakes which taste amazing and are a riot to look at (She also makes pg-rated cakes, but the R-rated ones are a lot of fun). My family has been going to the Penny bar for years. [Sarah, 11/24/2009]

Belfast, Maine - Perry's Nut House Billed on RA as a house of oddities. Well, yes there are a few oddities there...but it is more of a tourist trap selling some of the cheapest stuff around!
O.K., I will admit there was this sweet little old lady selling fresh homemade fudge (of all flavors/varieties) and so I indulged. The fudge made at Perry's Nut House is well worth the stop!
There was a giant stuffed Gorilla as you walk in the front door (contest to name it...and if you win...you get your picture with the gorilla). A large stuffed albatross, a mummy (looked a bit doctored up). Some cool things outside to get your picture with. [Ryan from Michigan, 11/23/2009]
