Inside the whale.

The Blue Whale

The top floor of the whale, as well as his tail, are now inaccessible for climbing. They have been boarded off or ladders removed. I think this is probably for safety, and for preservation of an old attraction.

Today, my father and I met Hugh Blaine Davis, son of the whale's creator, who goes by his middle name. He was working at the Catoosa Historical Museum just up the road. He shared stories about his father and family. Such a cool experience.

Blue Whale

The Blue Whale is in great shape! They recently replaced the deck with new materials, and it's lovely and blue. The pond is open for catch and release fishing -- no swimming -- and we did see some little fishies in the water. There's a little store and a sno-cone shack nearby.

The Blue Whale is holding up well. It was not too crowded (Covid-19 concerns), with ample parking.

The Whale is a little sun-bleached but otherwise fetching for a sea creature approaching its 50th birthday.
