Teapot Dome Gas Station
Why build a gas station in the shape of a teapot? If you had been alive in 1922, you'd get the joke.

Teapot Dome Gas Station
The Teapot Dome Gas Station is adorable and very easy and quick to get to. My granddaughter loved it. Very well preserved, and next to a veterans' memorial.

The teapot is fabulous! The sweet volunteer told us the visitors center is open every Saturday. And there is a beautiful Firefighter memorial next to it, and a veteran's memorial is being built.

I'm so glad I pulled off the road to see this little gem! It's as spiffy as advertised, lovingly buffed-up with its own well-paved parking lot. I was charmed by the great care taken in preserving the original (no-longer-functional) pit toilet building original to the site.
Though the teapot was closed for the day, I could see the interior was as clean and orderly as the exterior, with a tiny pot-bellied stove on the planked wood floor and framed photo portraits of some dignitaries on the walls.
It's really encouraging to see that some wonders are being saved from ruin.
[Pegrini B, 10/02/2014]Teapot Dome Gas Station So glad to see it all spiffed up. I was so excited I could have done the "I'm a Little Teapot" dance. It really worried me when it was no longer right off the exit; I though it might have been torn down. But it's so much better now! The gift shop in the Teapot has shirts, postcards, and a small selection of refreshments. Bathrooms are available as well. The directions on here are super easy to follow. Great stop, day or night!
