Hell, Michigan.

Town of Hell

Watch for ice when driving to Hell in winter. Scenic route, but lots of winding streets.

Town of Hell

The men who work at both Screamers and the restaurant were the nicest people. The post office is located in the restaurant. The putt putt was closed, but looked like little kids would enjoy. Screamers had a bunch of great items for sale: Clothing. Coffee mugs. Trinkets. Skull and cross bone items. Also the theme ducks people collect -- except these ducks were of the gross and grizzly.

If you don't giggle when you think "I went to Hell," then pass. That is what makes it fun. Giggle giggle. We went to Hell.

US Post Office for Hell.

Town of Hell

There is a "Hell, Michigan Post Office" in the General Store where, for the price of postage, someone will singe your postcard with a candle and stamp it "Been through Hell." The typical greeting when you walk into the gift shop: "Welcome to Hell! How the Hell are ya? Where the Hell ya from?"

Tiny church.

Tiny Church in Hell

Even Hell has a little church. It's brick red with a lovely blue door and a finial on the steeple that's shaped like a sort of question mark-like curlicue. Its doors were locked, but we peered in the windows and saw that it seats about six. Photos on display in the Screams ice cream parlor (the church is behind it) indicated that there are, indeed, weddings in Hell. Several wedding-related photo-op boards ring the church grounds, heavy on the Hell puns.

Town of Hell

Go to Hell hungry, and enjoy a meal at the Damn Site Inn (4095 Patterson Lake Rd) or ice cream at I Scream. These are the only activities in town, so plan to enjoy them.
