Owls Head Transportation Museum

This is one of the nicest museums in the state. Very bright, inviting, and full of historic methods of transportation. Trains, planes, bicycles, automobiles, and motorcycles are featured, as is a truck created to vend popcorn, and a Gypsy wagon. The giant motorcycle has been returned to its owner in Detroit, and the world's oldest minivan is gone, but a magnificent Rolls Royce is here, once owned by movie star Clara Bow and absolutely beautiful.

During the Covid-19 pandemic you must make reservations in advance to gain entrance, and the number of guests is controlled, which actually makes perusing these historic vehicles a much nicer experience. Hours and days of operation now fluctuate, so call and double check when making arrangements.

Excellent museum with amazing vintage vehicles. We have visited two years in a row and been very impressed.

Owls Head Transportation Museum

Indoor display of old cars and airplanes, some reproductions of old airplanes. A few bicycles and motorcycles. Most Summer weekends there is a car show, and on days with good weather a pilot (playing the part of "The Red Baron") flies aerobatics in a Fokker triplane replica. Free model T rides with admission. If your car fits the theme for the day, you may be invited to display it.
