A giant tree house -- maybe the largest in the world -- built by a preacher who said that God showed him how He wanted it to look. Closed by the state Fire Marshal in 2012; went up in flames in 2019.

Although it had been officially closed for seven years, the Minister's Tree House -- said to be the largest tree house in the world -- still drew curious tourists, and some of them probably snuck past the gate and explored the vast wooden structure. There was always hope among the faithful that the Tennessee State Fire Marshal would change his/her mind and allow the tree house, built by minister Horace Burgess, to reopen.
That hope ended on the night of October 22, 2019, when the building went up in flames. Firefighters said the entire tree house, which soared over 100 feet high, was consumed in about 15 minutes.

Although we knew the Treehouse had been closed by the fire marshall, we wanted to see if we could sneak a peek. That's about all you can see past the gate. Good luck to Horace in his fight to get it back open. Loved his No Trespassing sign.

For years visitors would ignore the closed gate and tromp through the Treehouse anyway. That didn't help poor Horace, who just wants to fix the place up to code so that he can reopen it to the public.
