9/11 Storage Container Memorial

The containers are gone, with nothing left but a couple of concrete slabs where they once stood, and a small wooden display box proclaiming "In memory of 9/11." Nice little park though.

9/11 Memorial - Storage Containers

The structures still stand. Finding them is a bit tricky, though. The locals know them as "the towers", most will say that they have been taken down. If you ask for directions, ask for Glen Maury Park. Once entering Glen Maury Park, you have to drive up a long hill to a "y" in the road. When you reach a clearing, where the "y" is, you have to turn 350 degrees and continue up the hill until you see them.

9/11 Memorial - Storage Containers

The town of Buena Vista has erected a 9/11 memorial to stand for three months in Glen Maury Park. Two 40-foot storage containers stand on their ends, painted white and decorated with yellow ribbons and several American Flags, in the same location where there were once a couple of president heads.

The memorial comes from the mind of Mark Cline, creator of Foamhenge (Natural Bridge VA), The Town That Time Forgot (Glasgow VA), and other attractions in Natural Bridge, VA. Known as a practical joker, Cline insists this is a sincere and serious memorial to the lives lost.
