American Police Hall of Fame and Museum

A great place to visit and noble cause to support.

American Police Hall of Fame and Museum

From everything I had read, the Police Museum sounded like a really cool place...when it was in Miami. We visited its new location in Titusville. The facilities are very nice. There is a very large police memorial chamber, shooting gallery and banquet room. The museum still had the Blade Runner car, gas chamber.... It even had a CSI-style crime scene. It is not a bad place to visit, it just wasn't as eccentric as I thought it would be.

We saw it back when it was on the gulf coast in Port Charlotte, and it's since moved a couple of times around the state. So apparently there's less opportunity to accumulate the amusing clutter found at stationary museums...

American Police Hall of Fame and Museum to move

One of Miami's most eclectic museums will be moving to a new location in Titusville -- next to the Astronaut's Hall of Fame -- by 2003. The 41 year old American Police Hall of Fame and Museum moved to Miami in 1990 from longtime digs on Florida's gulf coast in Port Charlotte....

Police Museum

The Miami Police Museum is a must visit. At the entrance, a police car is suspended on the wall. Upon entering, you are greeted by the police car from "Blade Runner," which didn't seem in the movie to be a bright orange, but it is here. There is a gas chamber, an electric chair, an old dungeon (which smelled of urine), a modern jail cell (which smelled just as putrid), stocks and other outdated punishment devices that the Miami police seem to wish to bring back. The highlight was the Heavy Metal album cover display which ranted about the evils of rock and roll, and the satan worship that always follows. I pray to the Roadside Gods that this little treasure is still in operation.
