Enchanted Forest Figures Moved to Clark's Elioak Farm

The struggle to save Enchanted Forest, Ellicott City, Maryland, appears to be over. Most of the fairy tale figures were moved to Clark's Elioak Farm, a nearby attraction, in early February. Cinderella's Pumpkin Coach had been moved there in November 2004. Preservationists and childhood fans of the Enchanted Forest, which first opened in 1955 and closed permanently in 1994, had hoped to find funding to restore and reopen the theme park.

The large figures transported included Cinderella's mice, the Three Bears, giant toadstools, and Mother Goose. The castle at Enchanted Forest was too large to be moved, but nearly everything else that could be pried loose has a new home at Clark's on Route 108, 10500 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City. They hope to raise funds and volunteers to rescue some of the remaining buildings, including a shoe house, which are made of concrete.

An Enchanted Forest Weekend at Elioak's is planned for the 2nd weekend in April, 2005.
