Video: Wolfman - A Tough Hide to Fill
Clark's Trading Post
Lincoln, New Hampshire
Clark's Trading Post is a unique New England tourist attraction. Where else can you see bears play basketball for ice cream rewards, then ride on a steam train that's attacked by a demented mountain man in a Mad Max hot rod?
That crazy guy is called the "Wolfman," and he's been part of the show for decades. We hung out with two Wolfmen over the years -- the first in 1991 (played by Frank Aurelio), and then the long-lived Wolfman played by Bill Farrand. Farrand retired from the role in 2009 (and passed away in 2018).
This video offers a brief look at both Wolfmen.
The job requirements call for "Wolfie" to be at least 18, and this is a position where youth is no advantage. In our view, a competent Wolfman should be at least 40, eschew exercise, smoke heavily, and able to repress the natural urge to shout obscenities at children.
