A yellow Smiley Face water tower was the friendly mascot of Waite. A second, white water tower, with a small painting of the Smiley Face tower is at the corner of 13th Ave. S. and 1st St. S.

As of July 2018 the water tower has been repainted with the current logo of Waite Park. It's now just another water tower.

The water tower is looking great! It has been joined by an oversized Pepsi Can across the parking lot.
[LamFam, 06/16/2017]As of 2014 the water tower is yellow with Smiley Face. Waite Park has a second water tower that features a painting of the other Smiley Face water tower.
[Dan, 03/24/2014]We'd heard the yellow Smiley Face tower had been repainted white with a tiny Smiley Face. Turns out that the white tower is actually a different tower, about a mile away, with a tiny tribute painting of the yellow Smiley Face tower.

Waite Park and its water tower had been "A City with a Smile" since 1970. Then in 2017 the town changed its slogan to "Where Minnesota Connects," and in 2018 it spent over $700,000 to paint over the Smiley Face Water Tower with a design that screams "forgettable."
