Among their many pursuits, George and Pam Farnham collect huge fiberglass figures, usually ones retired from roadside commercial duties. They've filled their rual West Virginia property with iconic statues acquired from near and far.
The King Midas Muffler Man was their first. Pam found the crowned, muffler-holding statue listed on eBay in 2004, stored in a garage after his Whittier, California, muffler shop had closed. Pam and George told us that they paid three times as much to ship the Muffler Man to their home as they did to buy him.
In celebration, and in recognition of King Midas's special status, they wrapped Christmas lights around the Man and his muffler.
