What’s the difference between a white alligator and an albino alligator?
Now everyone can know thanks to Gatorland, the alligator megaplex in Kissimmee, Florida. According to the Lakeland Ledger, the attraction has acquired four of the world’s only 13 white (not albino) alligators and put them on display in special play pits as a way to boost attendance (Gatorland is an old pro when it comes to finding ways to make alligators interesting).
In the not-to-distant future, we wouldn’t be surprised to read that Gatorland had successfully gene-spliced the world’s first polka-dot or zebra-striped alligator.
And the difference between white animals (including gators) and albino animals is this: white ones have blue eyes, albinos have pink. Certain other freak animal hangouts are not so precise with the terminology.
