Frank Bates let us know his Airstream Ranch, Dover Florida, will be the sole subject of a hearing open to the public tomorrow in a Tampa courthouse. The Airstream Ranch, a line of Airstream trailers upended a la Cadillac Ranch, has been under attack as an illegal eyesore by a couple of irate neighbors and local government since it was first erected in early 2008. In the meantime, the Ranch has become a popular highway landmark.
The appeal against the decision to remove the ranch will be considered at 11:30 am and should last about an hour.

11:30 am
Edgecomb Courthouse, 800 East Twiggs St., Tampa, FL
While quantities last, anyone who attends the hearing will receive a free “Save the Airstream Ranch” t-shirt from Frank. You can wear the shirt at the hearing to show your support.
Update: The hearing was held, and three judges are deliberating on the appeal and the fate of the Airstream Ranch.
Tampa RV. I-4 exit 14, southwest corner. Continue past RV entrance to stoplight and turn right onto US 92, go 1/4 mile and take a right onto Castlewood Rd. 1/2 mile, ranch is on left.
I was at the hearing today and I think Frank Bates may be suprised by the three panel judges decision. All the hype and the limousine service may not intimidate the judges. Frank you may want to quit now before you throw more money down/on the trash hole.
It’s a work of ART! Leave it alone. If you want to see “junk trailers,” just look at the ones people live in, right next to I-4 a few miles to the west. Why isn’t the county going after that? That is a true junk trailer park! Trailer trash at its best! Clean that up!

I sure hope he gets to keep this up. I love it and when I do make it to Florida I’ll be sure to detour to the town to see it.
Come on America, let’s have some fun.
