An article from an upscale travel publication is circulating on the wire services, with the attention-optimized title America’s Most Unique Toy Stores. “Like any good escape,” it reads, “these shops also offer a transitory (yet incredibly vivid) diversion from the woes of the outside world.” That sounds a lot like shoppertainment to us, blurring the line between a store and a tourist attraction. Tourist attractions: hey, that’s something we know something about!
Anyway, the list missed a few.
We can understand. It’s a big country. So in the spirit of holiday cheer, and recognizing that this might actually prove useful at this time of year, here are a few “most unique” places to purchase toys that otherwise would have been overlooked:
– Toy Store Shaped Like a Stealth Bomber. Certainly the most unique-looking toy store in America. According to its owner, it specializes in “fun abnormalities.”
– The Outhouse and Da Yoopers Tourist Trap. Both of these dig deeper into the rich, earthy compost pit of flatulence humor collectibles than anywhere else.
– Haunted Toys-R-Us store. If you want to get in touch with your inner child, you have to shop in a place that could give you nightmares.
