Secret Caverns Billboard: Fan Pandering

Given the frequency of homages to Star Trek and Star Wars, it's hard to tell by billboard alone if the artists are fans, or only attempting to pander to the fan community.

Star Wars ship. Once on the cave tour, their sincerity becomes apparent. In a colorfully lit winding passage, a guide grips a large, low boulder and attempts a mind meld. Though his Spock impersonation is short, the crowd lets out a collective gasp, recalling, from the original Trek series, the cavebound Horta in an episode titled "Devil in the Dark."

On the same tour, the guide nose-hums the opening theme from Star Wars as we pass under an Imperial Battle Cruiser-like slab of rock...

Directions:: I-88 Exit 22. Turn north onto Hwy 145, then immediately turn right onto Hwy 7. Drive a little over a mile, then turn left onto Caverns Rd. Follow the billboards about 1.5 miles to Secret Caverns on the left.
