Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near Texas
While in Texas, you might enjoy a visit to:
Treasure-filled freak show -- "Five Museums in One" it boasts -- with stuffed animals, horn and antler art, and weird wonders since the 1880s. Enjoy a beer while you admire a cathedral made of 50,000 matchsticks; an 8-legged, 3-eared lamb; and a replica Bonnie and Clyde Death Car.
When visiting the Alamo, also visit the sarcophagus filled with the remains of all the dead defenders (inc. Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie), who were subsequently incinerated by the Mexicans in a bonfire.
If you park your car in neutral, "child ghosts" may push it about 30 feet up a slight hill, onto a spot formally crossed by railroad tracks! The tracks were later removed -- but the ghosts won't leave.
Crowds gather every evening to watch 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats take flight from under the Congress Avenue Bridge.
