Springfield, Illinois Attractions

Unusual landmarks, museums, roadside attractions, and hidden wonders in Springfield and the surrounding area. Springfield is best known for its Abe Lincoln attractions, including his posthumous presidential museum and his lucky-rub-nose tomb, the latter so frequently visited that an accordion player built his own tomb on the access road for the reflected glory and as a joke. The city is also the final resting place of Santa Anna's leg, and the birthplace of the hot dog on a stick. Another hot dog, a giant one, draws travelers to the neighboring town of Atlanta, clutched by a Route 66 Muffler Man.
