Chattanooga has endured as a tourist destination thanks to its proximity to Lookout Mountain, which visitors would ascend even in horse-and-buggy days just for the view. The Incline -- a near-vertical railway -- has made that journey a lot quicker (and more thrilling), while Rock City -- with its bizarre Fairyland Caverns -- has given people more to see than vistas when they get up top.
