Judge Rules That Wax Belongs To Everyone

The Salem Wax Museum of Witches and Seafarers in Salem, Massechusetts, has failed in its attempt to reserve the word "wax" for itself.

Superior Court Judge Howard Whitehead ruled that the word "wax" is not the property of the attraction on Derby Street in Salem, and refused to order a rival attraction, The Hollywood House of Wax, on the Essex Street pedestrian mall, to call itself something else.

Whitehead noted that if Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in London had been able to trademark the word "wax" they would certainly have done so many years ago.
