Sunken Gardens Religious Dioramas Find New Home

The "King of Kings" life-size wax figure collection, which had been removed from ailing attraction Sunken Gardens, St. Petersburg, FL, has found a new home in Logan, Iowa. The Museum of Religious Arts, slated to open in 1998, has acquired the collection, which depicts "many of the major events in the life of Jesus Christ in unbelievably realistic detail." The "King of Kings" has been described as "amazingly lifelike", "profoundly impressive", and "like being there."

The Museum of Religious Arts is the inspiration of Logan farmer Paul Lovell. The new building, 2 miles south of Logan, will house an assortment of religious art. Lovell, a Roman Catholic, salvages traditional church items that have been replaced in modern streamlined churches: pews, altars, organs, stained glass and confessionals.

The King of Kings collection will be a major part of the museum.
