Your Prom Dress Immortalized at the Henry Ford Museum
Smilers! Dig into your closets for those rite-of-passage horrors - atrocious formal wear, maid of honor dresses and your kiddie birthday suits. Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village is assembling a costume exhibit for fall 1999, a salute to special occasion fashions of the 20th century.
They're looking for donations of outfits from: birthdays (kids' birthdays and milestone birthdays), proms, weddings and New Year's Eve. While they can be garish and tacky, the pieces of clothing should be in good condition and must be accompanied by a story explaining why this particular ensemble was worn and for what occasion. A photograph of you in the outfit is also a must.
If you would like to permanently donate one of your outfits, please send the item of clothing along with a photograph and a written story to Nancy Bryk, Henry Ford Museum, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn, Michigan 48124. Please be sure to include your name, address and daytime phone number.
