Russkie sub attraction for sale on Web

We continue to track the movements of a Russian sub sold as a tourist attraction in 1997. The Cold War era U-484, a Juliett class submarine, sits rusting in Florida's Tampa Bay after St. Petersburg determined the water was too shallow at the sub's intended berth, a tourism hub called the "The Pier" (winter berth of the HMS Bounty). The sub was open at an isolated pier for a year and visited by over 50,000 before its owners declared bankruptcy.

Now the sub is for sale on the web at http://www.subexpo.com. It would be a great addition to any over-the-top collection or a singular draw in an American coastal town. The U-484 has room on board for a restaurant and gift shop.

In addition to the purchase price, the new owner may need to settle with St. Petersburg, owed more than $200,000 in port fees.
