Spruce Goose moving to new Oregon hangar
Howard Hughes' wooden WWII plane, the Spruce Goose, is being moved to a new museum in McMinnville, OR. The famed boondoggle was dismantled and shipped from its longtime tourist attraction hangar in Long Beach,CA, to McMinnville in 1992. It's been at the Evergreen Air Venture Museum since then, though we're not sure it was ever open to the public. The new Michael King Smith Aviation Museum will open in Spring 2001. McMinnville has been home to other thrills: the extinct Flight 97 Restaurant let you "Eat in a Bomber," and Alf`s Burgers and Ice Cream lets you watch live monkeys play while you eat a banana split.
