Aluminum Tree Museum
Holiday attractions are being dragged out of garages and storage sheds across the nation, dusted, polished, and exhibited for a fleeting few weeks. Whether it's the "World's Largest Christmas Tree with a Live Choir as Ornaments," or the "World's Largest Dreidel," you can bet it'll be gone a month from now. Of special note this season: the Aluminum Tree Museum, Brevard, NC. Creator and curator Stephen Paul Jackson is displaying his growing collection of metal Christmas trees, each covered with tacky ornaments. Decoration themes range from Elvis to a tribute to Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. Special group tours arranged by calling Steve at (828) 884-5304. 2003 Update: The Museum, featuring over 60 trees, is now hosted at Kris Klassics, at 36 West Main Street directly across from the Chamber of Commerce/Visitors' Information Center, Brevard, North Carolina, 20 miles west of I-26, south of Asheville. Hours - 10 am to 5 pm, Mon- Sat., Nov. 16 through Dec. 31 (except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day). Adults -$1; young people under 16 admitted free.
