Local sign zoning laws have prevailed against a 26-foot tall giant hand holding a pink Corvette. Studio City Hand Car Wash, on the 11500 block of Ventura Boulevard, has been battling with city officials and residents for two years since it erected the sign without a permit. According to Studio City ordinances, the hand is too big and too close to the road to be permitted. An LA judge has supported the city's ruling.

Owner Ben Forat has reluctantly agreed to cease his legal battle, and will move the sign back and reduce its height by six feet or so. [Thanks to Claudette Bergere for the LA Times article info]
